The main gateway to the Armenian capital Yerevan for international travellers is Zvartnots International Airport, which has many connections to Europe and Asia. See the Wikipedia article for airlines and destinations.

Zvartnots International Airport is at a 20 minutes driving distance from Yerevan city centre if traffic-free. However, the route is often overloaded during the daytime, and the trip may take much longer. Internet-based taxi services gg and Yandex serve the airport, as well as a few shuttles and bus lines. See the Wikipedia article for some details.

Nationals of many countries (e.g., EU, UK) may travel to Armenia for periods of up to 90 days without a visa. Others may obtain an electronic visa on the website of the corresponding authorities. Find out if you need a visa and how to obtain one on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

Limited capacity is available at the University Guesthouse, primarily reserved for plenary speakers. Many hotels are within walking distance of the main venue. We recommend booking your rooms in advance, as Yerevan can still see high demand for accommodations in October. If you need assistance with accommodation, feel free to contact us in advance, and we will do our best to help.

Yerevan is officially one of the safest cities in the world (see, e.g., here). Levels of street crime are negligible, and the city is bursting with life 24 hours. The city may lag behind some developed countries in terms of infrastructure for family travel (e.g., ramps, lifts), but the populace is very warm and welcoming towards families and children.

The local currency is the Armenian Dram (see here for current rates, or simply Google). Payments in other currencies are very rare. All major international payment cards are widely accepted (except Discover/Diners Club). A dense network of ATMs is serving the city centre, and some of the small local traders may not accept some payment cards. It is not recommended to exchange currency at the airport due to rather hostile rates.
